Maua Necklace
This necklace features the following unique materials:
- Recycled glass beads, handmade by artisans in the West African country of Ghana. Each bead is individually handcrafted through a traditional process passed down from generation to generation. The steps involve crushing glass into tiny pieces, placing it in a mold, and then heating the crushed glass at high temperatures in a clay oven. Different types of glass are used including old cola bottles, broken tiles and windows, and other types of repurposed glass.
- Nepali bone beads. Each of these bone beads was handcarved out of reclaimed cow bone in the mountainous regions of Nepal.
